The Penang state government should be responsible for puzzling the public with calls for undesired state snap poll, said Defence Minister Hishamuddin Hussein.
He said the Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng which has been shoved into the spotlight for abuse of power and corrupt practices, should not divert the minds of public in the name of dissolving state assembly which did not take place.
“The graft issues should be well addressed and public certainly demands explanation.
“One should be responsible and honest in addressing the ongoing issues instead of playing with the public’s mind in the name of dissolving state assembly and snap polls move.
“Don’t find an easy way to escape from the mess.
“Leaders should be responsible in providing explanation,” he said at Umno Bukit Gelugor division convention at Penang Hotel Equatorial today.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Hishamuddin said the Islamic State (IS) threat is “real” to the country and Malaysian government takes the matter seriously.
“I agree with Deputy Prime Minister (Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) that the IS threat is real.
“This is a new phenomena in our country and whoever denies the matter should be responsible if anything occurs,”he added, reminding every Malaysians to be vigilant.
Last month, police have confirmed that the Movida night club bombing (in Kuala Lumpur) was the first ever successful IS attack on Malaysian soil.
The attack, which left eight people injured, was carried out by locals who were directly instructed by IS sympathiser Muhamad Wanndy Mohamad Jedi from Syria.
