Heavy rain in most districts here yesterday led to a rise in the number of people moved to flood relief shelters in the state.
NST reported as at 9am today, the number of people at evacuation centres stood at 9,755 people with Pasir Mas accounting for more than half the figure.
The districts involved have also rose to nine with Bachok being the latest.
According to the state flood operation centre, Pasir Mas now has 5,410 people at the shelters followed by Kuala Krai 1,491, Machang 1,100, Kota Baru 724 and Tanah Merah 638.
Pasir Putih has 217, Bachok 107, Tumpat 45 and Jeli 23.
The number of water measurement points above the danger level, however, is down from three to two.
Both the water levels at the Guillemard bridge at Kuala Krai and Rantau Panjang have also dropped but are still above the danger level.
At the Guillemard bridge, the level stood at 17.65m (danger level 16.0m) while Rantau Panjang is at 10.39m (danger level 9.0m).
