GEORGE TOWN: Penang Umno has today advised Pakatan Harapan not to trust former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Penang Umno Liaison chief Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman said Pakatan Harapan should know better than to trust the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) chairman whom he labelled as having a bad track record in Umno.

“He is only ‘putting on a wayang’ which had lasted more than fifty years.

“It is such a waste for someone of his level to have stooped so low as to come up with such ‘sandiwara’,” Zainal Abidin told a press conference at the Penang Umno Hari Raya Open House at Menara Umno here today.

He also alleged that Dr Mahathir had not only made enemies with four other Prime ministers but even three deputy prime ministers in the last 50 years.

Zainal was referring to Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Hussein Onn, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and current Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“In the same period of time, Dr Mahathir had also fought with former deputy prime ministers, namely, Tun Ghafar Baba, Tun Musa Hitam and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“So, in short, he is the only one who is in the right in this country, no one else,” he said.

He went on to describe Dr Mahathir’s latest statements as “more wayang”.

“So my advice to those in Pakatan Harapan is not to be influenced by his ‘wayang’ and trust him too much because we never know what he will do next, he might suddenly make a u-turn,” added Zainal.

He also cautioned the people to just watch “the wayang” by Dr Mahathir and be entertained  but not believe anything.

“Dr Mahathir had left and rejoined Umno three times. Who knows he might suddenly decide to rejoin Umno one of these days,” quipped Zainal. – MO
