Prime Minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor has advised undergraduates not to be taken up by populist promises for change.

Rosmah said any unhappiness should be expressed through proper channels.

“Similarly, if there are ideas which need to be developed and conveyed to the leaders, they should be submitted in proper democratic ways as practised in our country.

“I hope you will continue to come up with fresh ideas, creative and critical inputs, views and hopes for Umno which is the core of Barisan Nasional (BN) to remain relevant and the party of the people,” she said.

Rosmah was speaking at a dinner event yesterday night, with members of the Overseas Umno Clubs (KULN) and delegates at the National Student Leadership Conference (Pemanas) at the prime minister’s official residence in Seri Perdana.

The dinner was held in conjunction with the UMNO General Assembly 2016 and attended by 200 KULN members and 350 from Pemanas.

Also present were Foreign Deputy Minister Reezal Naina Merican, who is also Overseas Students Bureau chairman, and Umno Education Bureau chairman Ibrahim Abu Shah.

Rosmah also reminded the students not to be easily duped by negative elements who could block the process of gaining knowledge.

She said the students should be smart and able to think before acting, based on the knowledge and experiences they had.

“If you are really interested in politics and the leadership, political discussions should be about issues that matter to the public, such as building an educated society with integrity, and is united, and never forget respect for the leaders,” she added.

Rosmah hoped the synergy between Pemanas and KULN members and the leadership would continue to benefit religion, society and the nation.
