Two of the four DAP lawmakers who resigned from their party last weekend, are now independent assemblymen.

Bachang assemblyman Lim Jak Wong and Kesidang assemblyman Chin Choon Seong have submitted their official letters at 10.30am today to notify the state assembly speaker on their latest status.

The House Speaker Othman Muhamad said it was unnecessary to check on the authenticity of the letters since assemblymen had personally submitted them to his secretary.

The DAP duo’s latest political decision would not cause any complications in the House sitting, as Othman said it would only require adjusting new seating arrangement and changing the name tags.

“Their declaration as independent assemblymen will not reduce their chances of being able to speak in the house,” said Othman.

In March last year, Duyong assemblyman Goh Leong San, who quit the party last Saturday, submitted his letter to be an independent following his suspension by the DAP’s disciplinary committee the previous month.

Othman then announced Goh as an independent candidate.

The fourth person to resign from DAP last weekend was Kota Melaka MP Sim Tong Him.
