GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested the special assistant to a DAP state assemblyman to assist in investigations following a molest case.

Northeast District police chief Asst Comm Anuar Omar told reporters yesterday that the suspect had undergone a urine test here last night.

Anuar added that the case was being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code and the suspect, in his early 40s, would be remanded today under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

“Our team had gone to his office but we were told he had not turned up for work for the past few days, ” Anuar told reporters.

On July 6, a 21-year-old college student who just started working as a part time waitress at an entertainment outlet had lodged a police report claiming she was molested by the suspect who had fondled her private parts in his car.

According to her report, the suspect had also allegedly masturbated in front of her and offered her money to spend the night with him.
