GEORGE TOWN: The aide of a DAP assemblyman allegedly involved in a molest case is expected to be charged in court tomorrow.

Northeast District police chief Asst Comm Anuar Omar told reporters that the suspect will be charged if police manage to get in touch with him through his lawyer.

“The State Prosecution Office has agreed for the suspect to be charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty,” said Anuar.

The suspect, in his 40s, a former Penang city councillor was arrested last Thursday at 9.30pm following a police report by a woman who claimed he had molested her on her first day of work as a waitress.

The incident was said to have taken place at a carpark of an entertainment outlet in Beach Street on July 6. – MO
