It appears that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) has joined Lim Kit Siang’s DAP-led opposition in yet another way; in losing top leadership.
Today, supreme council member Kamarulzaman Habibur Rahman announced that he has officially resigned from Pribumi.
Kamarulzaman says that there were those in the party looking only to gain position and power.
He further says that power hungry group within in the party worked hard to undermine the efforts of those who worked to start the party.
The dissatisfaction is not to dissimilar to that which those DAP members who jumped ship felt about the direction the party under the leadership of Kit Siang was headed.
While it would too easy to suggest that Mahathir Mohamad was the common thread, one would also have to look at Kit Siang’s role as well.
Both of those aging politicians have made error after error; starting with their individual and collective goal to remove Prime Minister Najib Razak from office.
Both Mahathir and Kit Siang attempted to spin a web of lies; and believed that those lies would be strong enough to ensnare the prime minister.
However, as it turned out they and their ilk are the only ones who being caught in their own deceit.
In seeing the direction the DAP-led opposition has embarked on, there is little wonder there are those like Kamarulzaman who are dissatisfied with their political parties.
In fact, when Kamarulzaman Habibur Rahman was asked at the press conference (held at Sunway Putra Hotel) on Wednesday if other Pribumi members were going to also resign, he responded in saying that 821 members around Malaysia intended to resign from Pribumi; but that it will be announced at a later date.
If today’s resignation from Bersatu (Pribumi) has many more to come, then Bersatu’s leadership may soon find itself down to just Satu (one)! – The Malaysian Observer Blog
