Police will be calling up former Asia’s top debater Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman to record a statement in connection with the contents in his open letter directed at the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, said Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar.
He said the investigation was being carried out under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act.
“Police have received several reports regarding the matter. I wish to advise the public to be careful when making any comments about royalty and the institution of the Malay rulers,” Bernama reported as he saying in a statement today.
In the open letter uploaded on his Facebook account, Syed Saddiq, who is the head of newly-formed Pribumi’s youth wing, among others had criticised the decree by the Sultan on Thursday forbidding street demonstrations in the state.
