Ezam Md Noor needs to contest in party elections if he wants to be president of the New Generation Party (New Gen Party), said party president G. Kumaar Amman.

He said this was what Ezam needed to do and not “steal the president’s post through fraud and forgery”.

“Many of my friends called me to say this was the first time they have heard of a case of wanting to steal political post and party,” he said in a statement.

“Ezam Md Noor’s action to have the party’s annual meeting at a tile shop has become the laughing stork of the whole country. This is quite funny and if I were Ezam Md Noor, I would definitely feel embarassed and I would retire from politics.”

It was previously reported that S. Gobi Krishnan, who claims to be the party’s legitimate secretary-general, had said the party was neither stolen nor hijacked by anyone adding that whatever decision made regarding the party was made according to the Societies Act 1966.

The appointments of Ezam as the party chairman and Khairuddin Abu Hassan as the deputy chairman was done legally, he said.

He also said there was no such position as president of the party, claiming Kumaar had quit his post as party chairman and was now an ordinary member.

Kumaar today urged the Registrar of Societies to take action against Ezam according to the Societies Act.
