Chemist crowned as KBJ’s Ratu Kebaya 2016

A 27-year old chemist Nurlina Abdul Mutaalib was crowned ‘Ratu Kebaya 2016’ at the annual Kebaya Queen contest in Kompleks Bukit Jambul, Bayan Baru in Penang recently.

Nurlina won the hearts of the judges with her beauty and grace as she best embodies the kebaya’s timeless elegance.

She also won the subsidiary title as “Most Promising Model” and a one year modelling contract in addition to cash prize of RM3, 000, hotel room stay, a holiday package to Hatyai, Thailand and a HTC smartphone worth RM6, 000.

“It is a new experience for me as I wanted to challenge myself in this pageant. When I was given the opportunity to compete, I just grab it,” she said.

Nurul Ain Nasiron, the first runner up, bagged two subsidiary titles, the “Miss Popularity” and “Miss Perfect Smile”.

The 21-year old was the crowd’s favourite and won the “Miss Batu Bar 2016” title during the semi-finals.

Her mother’s gift of a beautiful kebaya prompted Nurul to join the contest.

She received RM2, 000 cash prize and hotel room stay at Equatorial Hotel Penang and Vistana Hotel Penang with beauty and hair care vouchers worth RM4, 000

Siti Nadzwa Mohd. Noor, 31 who is a contractor, was placed third.

Siti received RM1, 000 cash prize, a hotel stay at Equatorial Hotel Penang and a buffet dinner at Royal Penang Hotel with other prizes worth more than RM3, 000

A total of 44 participants took part at the KBJ’s annual contest.

The contestants were whittled down to 26 during the semi-finals held at Lone Pine Hotel’s Batu Bar.

Finally 17 women were shortlisted for the final to win coveted ‘Ratu Kebaya 2016’ crown.

A token of appreciation was awarded to Butik Ronna RNT KBJ as the sponsor of all Kebayas worn during the semi-final and the grand finale of KBJ Ratu Kebaya for seven consecutive years since 2010.
