Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan says he was stopped by authorities on arrival at Los Angeles airport on Friday, taking to Twitter to voice his displeasure.
“I fully understand & respect security with the way the world is, but to be detained at US immigration every damn time really, really sucks,” Khan said on Twitter.
Khan, one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, was similarly detained and questioned by US immigration officials in 2009 and 2012.
On Friday morning the US ambassador to India, Richard Verma, offered Khan an apology saying “Sorry for the trouble at LAX @iamsrk (Khan’s Twitter name). We are working to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Your work inspires millions, including in the US.”
Khan replied “No trouble sir, respect the protocol & not expecting 2 b above it. It’s just a tad inconvenient. Thx for ur concern.”
Following his earlier detainments, Khan said that they were possibly due to him having a Muslim name.
