The widow of Adenan Satem will be the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in the Tanjung Datu by-election.
Jamilah Anu, 61, will be officially named as the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) candidate on Feb 4 during the nomination day revealed Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg at the PBB headquarters here today
The by-election will be held on Feb 18.
The seat was left vacant after the death of the former chief minister last month.
Known for her charitable and voluntary work, Jamilah is also popular with the Sarawak people.
Adenan died from heart complications on January 11 and had occupied the Tanjung Datu seat for more than nine years.
He first won the seat in the ninth Sarawak state election in May 2006.
