Barisan Nasional (BN), which plans and implements the national development agenda for the wellbeing of the people and national prosperity, is the best choice for the people for the 14th general election (GE14), said Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak.

He listed three factors that must be considered by the people in making their choice for the GE14.

The BN under the leadership of Prime Minister and coalition chairman Najib Razak practised the concept of consensus and cooperated as a team while the opposition each had their own opinions and stand.

Secondly, he said, the BN planned to develop Malaysia and such plans were announced to the people unlike the opposition which had no planning and were only politicising.

Thirdly, the BN implemented what had been planned while the opposition, particularly in the states they were ruling, had their plans but were incapable of implementing them, he said.

“BN is a coalition which has plans and implemented them. It means that Malaysia’s future is more guaranteed under the BN leadership.

“We cannot hand over Malaysia to any team that has no consensus among themselves,” he said here today.

Salleh said although the BN component parties sometimes had differing opinions, these were normal especially in a democratic system, Bernama reported.

However, the BN had a specific platform to manage their differences, but the opposition were openly fighting among themselves, he said.

He said the opposition still had no consensus concerning the main issues and among them were the distribution of seats and the use of a single symbol for GE14.

“This forms a problem between the opposition parties following the differences in political ideologies as well as political interests. I am certain if this trend persists, we will see the opposition coalition breaking up because of their differences,” he said.

“On the other hand, BN which practices the concept of consensus is always working as a team and each component party plays its role to achieve prosperity for the people.

“We contest not merely for the victory of an individual party but for the BN as a whole because we want to become a political coalition that continues the development agenda by ensuring national stability and prosperity besides providing economic and job opportunities,” he added.

Citing an example, Salleh said the National Transformation 50 (NT50) programme launched by Najib showed that the government under the BN leadership had obtained inputs and feedback from the young generation on their aspiration and was building a future within the next 30 years.
