Mampu Art Market held at the old Hin Bus Depot, George Town recently is an initiative to expose the public to artwork and artists of various disciplines.

The first Mampu Art Market held recently in conjunction with George Town Festival (GTF) is a show where the public get to meet the young artist up close and chat with them.

The younger set learns to appreciate art by viewing and a collection is built up over the years, starting with a small art print, handicraft or affordable smaller sized paintings.

Mampu Art Market had the works of some young 30 artists – sketch artist Ch’ng Kiah Kiean, graffiti artist The Sliz, Alex Lee, Aleff Ahmad, Alya Hatta, Bibi Chun, Caryn Koh, Darsh Kanda, Julius Kangblabla, Philip Hemnell, Syahbandi Samat, To Mi and Tumbleknots.

Art doesn’t always need to be expensive. Taste is something that has to be caught and not store bought.
