The Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) today presented a student grant of RM50,000 to Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).
Bakti president Rosmah Mansor, who is the wife of the Prime Minister Najib Razak, handed over the cheque for the amount to Unimas vice-chancellor Prof Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.
The grant is to help students from needy families to get good education and secure excellent results.
Mohamad said money from the grant would be distributed to needy students from the interior and rural areas.
“We at Unimas are most grateful to Bakti to select us for the grant.
“We will use this donation to help students according to their needs,” Bernama reported as he saying after the presentation at Bangunan Bakti Siti Hasmah here.
The Bakti grant is the second given to Unimas.
The university received a similar grant of RM50,000 in 2000.
