An AIADMK worker who was said to have been upset over rumours about the health of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa died due to heart attack in the city of Coimbatore, police and party sources said on Sunday.
47 year old Muthusamy, who resides near the city airport area, was upset and depressed for the past few days over the health condition of Jayalalithaa who is currently undergoing treatment in a corporate hospital in Chennai since Sept 22, party sources said.
His wife and colleagues failed to convince him that the chief minister was on the path of recovery.
Police said he complained of chest pain amid rumours about Jayalaithaa’s health condition and passed out. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Doctors said he died of heart attack.
