KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Wanita chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil today denied speculation that she would be contesting for the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat in the 14th General Election (GE14).
“Many people have asked me if I will accept the offer to contest for the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat. My answer is no, even though Bandar Tun Razak is an area where Barisan Nasional (BN) can win, and beat PKR,” she said in her Facebook post.
The media had previously reported there were rumours that Shahrizat would be the BN candidate for the Bandar Tun Razak seat, which is traditionally contested by a representative from MCA.
In GE13, MCA’s Tan Kok Eng lost to Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who contested under PKR. Abdul Khalid became an Independent a year later. – Bernama
