KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) is expected to launch the state manifesto by early next week, said its secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan yesterday.
“There is a window that was given, but I don’t think the launch will be later than early next week,” he said.
He said not long after the launch of the state manifesto, he also expected Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, who is also the state BN chairman, to announce the BN candidates contesting in the May 9 general election.
Rahman, who is also a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, said this to reporters after launching a computerised balloting of public infrastructure maintenance projects and basic infrastructure projects for Kota Kinabalu near here.
He said he assumed that when Musa announced the names, all the candidates would have been informed.
Asked by reporters to confirm if he would be fielded to contest the Sepanggar parliamentary seat, Rahman said he had received instructions from the party to go down to the ground in Sepanggar.
“But rest assured. I think the probability is quite high that I will be representing the great party of Umno in Sepanggar.”
Rahman, who was Kota Belud MP prior to the dissolution of Parliament, also said he had received requests from grassroots leaders to stay in Kota Belud.
“Obviously, if I recontest in Kota Belud, I will win comfortably because I have given 10 years of my service there.
“Ever since I became a federal minister, I have brought development there worth nearly RM1 billion.
“But if the party leadership tells me to go to a new constituency, I have no choice but to shoulder that responsibility to ensure BN’s victory in the Sepanggar constituency,” he said. – Bernama
