PUTRAJAYA: The Barisan Nasional is deploying 7,500 election workers across the federal administrative centre to ensure the coalition retains the seat as its stronghold.

Voters there, most of whom work for the federal government, have returned Datuk Serri Tengku Adnan Mansor as their MP in three successive elections since 2004.

Putrajaya BN election director Shokri Shafee said 75 booths would be set up in strategic locations to ease their operations.

He said the staff would be responsibile for the areas where they would be stationed and they had the task of encouraging all registered voters to cast their ballots on May 9.

Shokri said the BN would provide suitable vehicles to send the voters to their polling stations, as in previous elections.

He was confident that BN would retain Putrajaya because of the credibility and leadership of Tengku Adnan, better known as “Ku Nan”.

Shokri said: “Ku Nan has done so much here, everyone knows that and this is the time for them to return the favour,” he said.

In 2013, Tengku Adnan defeated Husam Musa of PAS with a 5,541-vote majority. – Bernama
