KUALA LUMPUR: Voters can start checking for information on their polling stations and channels for the 14th General Election (GE14) beginning next Monday.
Election Commission’s (EC) Election Operations Division principal assistant secretary, Mohd Sarif Hassan said at the moment, only information on voter registration status and eligibility to vote, is available.
“It is not possible now (to check on the polling station information). A check on the EC website now only shows information on the parliamentary or state constituencies. It does not show at which schools the voters’ polling stations will be,” he said when he appeared as a guest on Bernama Radio’s ‘1Malaysia Negaraku’ programme here yesterday.
He said checks can be done either via the EC’s website at ww.spr.gov.my or ‘MySPR Semak’ mobile application or call 03-88927018 or send an SMS to 15888.
On Tuesday, the EC announced the polling date for GE14 on May 9, the nomination date on April 28, while the early voting on May 5.
Yesterday, the government declared May 9 as an additional national public holiday in conjunction with the GE14 polling day to enable Malaysians to fulfil their responsibilities as voters. – Bernama
