KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission has fixed May 9 as voting date.
As it is a Wednesday, right smack in the middle of a working week, this will frustrate many people’s plans to balik kampung to vote.
Malay Mail Online reported that nominations will take place on April 28, a Saturday, the Election Commission (EC) announced today.
EC chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said today that voting for advance and postal voters will take place on May 5.
This provides for an 11-day campaigning period.
The EC announced the dates following a special two-hour meeting at its headquarters here to decide the dates and other details regarding the national election.
