GEORGE TOWN: The Penang state manifesto by Barisan Nasional (BN) for the 14th General Election (GE14) will revolve around saving Penang from further harm by the DAP Penang state government through their policies.
Formulated to “Save Penang”, Penang Umno Liason Committee Chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman said the manifesto would put a stop to DAP’s destructive ways in Penang.
He explained that through the manifesto, BN would review and call off several projects planned by the DAP seen as not beneficial to Penangites and also harmful to the environment.
“Penangites can already see for themselves how the DAP state government is pro-developer, all at their expense and also the environment.
“Penangites do not benefit anything from the Penang state government’s plans, only developers.
“That is why Penangites must give Barisan the mandate in the upcoming GE14 so we can review and strike off all the projects planned by the DAP which is ruining Penang,” Zainal told reporters here today.
Meanwhile, in a bid to rescue Penang from the DAP, Umno is targeting 15 state and five parliamentary seats in the state.
Zainal said Umno would be going all out, giving extraordinary focus on all the 15 state and five parliamentary seats which it would be contesting in GE14.
Zainal expressed confidence Umno would do better this time around compared to GE13 as it had been working hard, going down to the ground.
Factors such as multi-cornered fights from various parties and current state of affairs working against the Opposition’s favour, the confidence was also based on the fact that Penang Umno had already put its machinery to work since 2016.
“We are in top gear and top form in our quest to wrest back Penang from the DAP and we see a good chance in GE14.
“At the same time we also hope BN component parties also play their role as Umno needs their assistance to ensure a majority in the state seats,” added Zainal.
