PUTRAJAYA: Persatuan Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad claims there are efforts from within Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) to sabotage the registration of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
The former prime minister revealed that there had been numerous reports to the Registrar of Societies (Ros) lodged by Pribumi members claiming that its Annual General Assembly (AGM) was not legitimate.
This, he said could affect their application to register Pakatan as a coalition and it risked being rejected by the ROS.
“We are baffled how 400 different people can lodge the same report, using the same words, to the RoS.
“So there seems to be a concerted effort, by certain quarters to force the RoS to reject Pakatan’s application,” he was quoted as telling the press at Pakatan’s weekly press conference here today.
Pribumi, part of the Pakatan Opposition coalition that includes DAP, PKR and Parti Amanah Negara, held its annual general assembly last December.
Dr Mahathir has been named Prime Minister elect by PH should it win the next general election and take over Putrajaya.
Dr Mahathir also revealed that Pakatan has contingency plans in case its application to register itself as a coalition is rejected by the RoS.
He expressed unease that the coalition might not be registered in time for the coming general election as he claimed the RoS has yet to respond on Pakatan’s application and its status remained unknown.
“We have our Plan B and Plan but we will not tell you what it is,” said Dr Mahathir when asked of the coalition’s next course of action should it be deemed not legitimate by the RoS.
He urged the ROS to respond to the coalition’s application and acknowledge receipt as “it had not done anything wrong and deserved an answer”.
