PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has hinted that the 14th General Election will be held before July 14, before Hari Raya Haji.
Najib, in saying this, also reminded BN supporters performing their Haj to continue supporting the government, hinting that the 14th General Election will be held soon.
He assured that as long as the current government is in charge of Putrajaya, Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters need not worry about sponsorship for their Haj.
He dropped a strong hint, saying that the 14th general election would be held before Hari Raya Aidiladha which falls in August.
The pilgrims, he said, would witness two ‘raya’ occasions before performing their Haj.
“July 14 means that two occasions would have passed, one being Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the other being another ‘hari raya’.”
“You will depart (for Mecca) after the other ‘raya’, to perform your Haj after one ‘raya’ is over to do it in a more relaxed manner,” said Najib, referring to ‘pilihan raya’, a Malay word for election.
The Prime Minister was saying this after presenting offer letters to 1,200 pilgrims to perform the Haj at the Putrajaya mosque here today.
The recipients, under the the 2018 (PM-1MDB) Foundation Special Haj programme are scheduled to leave for Mecca on July 14, and the national election must be held by Aug 24. Hari Raya Haji falls on Aug 21.
