Gerakan raises RM100,000 for Penang flood victims

PETALING JAYA: Gerakan’s central committee has raised RM100,000 for a flood relief fund that will be sent to its flood relief centre and volunteers in Penang.

Party president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said in a statement the money was for relief works helping the flood victims

He added that the Penang Gerakan had reactivated its flood relief centre with many volunteers mobilised to help flood victims.

Party members in the state have also been instructed to help food victims, especially in worst hit areas.

“We have mobilised a flood relief team and provided assets and assistance to help people affected by the flood, Meteorological Department has forecasted that bad weather will continue, the party will continue to prepare for, respond to, and recover from flood emergency situations,” he said.
