PEKAN: Popular movie director-actor Afdlin Shauki said the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) bestowed on him yesterday would definitely motivate him to be more active in charity work to help those in need.
Afdlin Shauki, 46, said the award, which carries the title of “Datuk”, was also timely as he had just set up the Afdlin Shauki Foundation a few months ago so that the charity work could now be carried out in a more orderly manner.
Afdlin, a multi-faceted entertainer who has been involved in the industry for 26 years, also described the award as recognition from the Pahang Ruler and state government towards those involved in the entertainment industry.
“With this title comes great responsibility to ensure that its significance is preserved at all times,” he told reporters when met at the Istana Abu Bakar here yesterday.
Afdlin Shauki whose real name is Afdlin Shauki Aksan, was one of 33 recipients of the DIMP award conferred in conjunction with Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah’s birthday celebration yesterday.
Meanwhile, the founder and owner of D’Herbs Holding Sdn Bhd Datuk Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman, whose name is synonymous with the title ‘Datuk Terlajak Laris’, said the Darjah Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah (SSAP) award that carries the title of “Datuk Seri” bestowed on him was an unexpected recognition and an achievement that he had never dreamt of.
Alif Syukri, 30, added that the award was even sweeter as he was born in Kuala Lipis. – Bernama
