Malaysian entrepreneur Vijay Eswaran featured in Forbes Middle East

KUALA LUMPUR: Prominent Malaysian entrepreneur and Qi Group of Companies Founder, Datuk Seri Vijay Eswaran, who was featured in the Middle East version of the renowned Forbes business magazine, says innovation and cutting-edge research are the right approach for the group’s Quest International University Perak (QIUP) to realise its vision of emerging as the ‘Harvard of the East’.

The magazine, which features articles and reports that are related to the finance and business world, has featured Vijay Eswaran, who has been creating interest in the global business world, including education.

In its September edition, Forbes runs a double-spread feature, captioned ‘Never Stop Learning, Never Stop Seeking’, noting that Vijay Eswaran wants to transform higher education as he plans to make his latest venture a ‘Harvard of the East’.

“A Vision for QIUP is for it to be known as the ‘Harvard of the East’. Ambitious, but with the right approach to learning and focus on innovation and cutting-edge research, I am confident we can get there,” he said in Forbes Middle East.

The story has generated a lot of interests among Asians, particularly within the Middle East, after the copies of the magazine hit the newsstands.

More so, when Vijay Eswaran’s direct selling arm, QNET, is holding its annual V-Convention in Dubai from Sept 8–12, which has attracted 12,000 global entrepreneurs.

In the Forbes article, Vijay Eswaran shares his thoughts about the potentials of higher education in South-East Asia and his vision for QIUP, which is a project undertaken by the QI Group, helmed by Vijay Eswaran in partnership with the Perak State Government.

As one of the leading voices in the drive for better higher education in South-East Asia, he unveils his vision through Forbes for the university: to be known as the ‘Harvard of the East’.

He explains that QIUP has already begun to attract the foremost minds in academia from across South-East Asia and is now looking to attract world-leading researchers and lecturers from overseas, to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs, innovators, professionals and more.

The Penang-born Vijay Eswaran, who has a diversified businesses that stretch across many parts of the world, is the Executive Chairman of the QI group, founded in 1998.

It is an e-commerce-based conglomerate with businesses diversified into retail and direct sales, technology, lifestyle and leisure, luxury and collectibles, education, training and conference management, property development and logistics, and of late its property development in Ipoh known as the ‘QI City’.

The QI Group has regional offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, besides having a presence in nearly 30 countries through a wide range of subsidiary companies.
