PETALING JAYA: The planned installation of CCTVs at all police stations nationwide by the Home Ministry will be carried out nationwide to boost security, reported The Star Online.
The news portal quoted Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed as saying while many stations have the CCTVs, the temporary ones particularly those located in shop houses, did not.
“We do not want a repeat of the case in Subang Jaya when a policeman was shot dead at the station,” he was quoted as saying after presenting aid to policemen at some police stations in Johor Baru Sunday.
The CCTV installation will be based on budget allocation.
It had been previously reported that a policeman, L/Kpl Valentino Mesa was shot dead at a Subang Jaya police station.
The 29-year-old, who was on duty alone at the time, had slash wounds and a gunshot wound to his head.
It is believed the gunshot was fired at close range while his Mesa’s pistol was missing from the scene.
