GEORGE TOWN: Penang Health, Caring Society and Environment exco Phee Boon Poh was called in again by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for a second round of questioning.

It is learnt that Phee, who is also a DAP state assemblyman, had gone to the MACC building along Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah at about 9.45am accompanied by Bukit Gelugor member of parliament who is also his lawyer Ramkarpal Singh.

While it is unclear why Phee was called in by the MACC, it is believed he went to give his statement on the Kampung Sungai Lembu illegal factory in which he was questioned for and subsequently detained on August 11, a day after MACC conducted a raid on the factory.

As of 1.30pm today there is still no updates from Phee and Ramkarpal.

Ramkarpal earlier confirmed to the New Straits Times that he and Phee were indeed at the MACC building for Phee to give his statement.

Phee is being investigated for alleged abuse of power following what was believed to be two letters written to the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) seeking for postponement of action against the illegal factory. – MO
