KUALA LUMPUR: Selayang member of Parliament William Leong Jee Keen has resigned from PKR’s political bureau.
Leong however stressed he will not be leaving the party.
The Star Online reported Leong as saying that he has sent in his letter of resignation, citing the party’s cooperattion with PAS as the reason.
He commented that three-cornered fights with PAS are inevitable, which is why, according to him, PKR should concentrate and prepare for that.
Leong claimed that PAS has made it clear they are working with Umno, adding that the ideological difference are too wide to bridge.
Talks on PKR possibly cooperating with PAS surfaced recently after a meeting between leaders of both parties.
However, PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali said the decision to meet with PAS was PKR’s own initiative and did not represent the entire Opposition coalition.
On the meet between the leaders, Mohamed Azmin dismissed it as being a mere visit and no discussion had taken place.
