Twin cyclists contribute gold in men’s team time trial

NILA: The cycling squad delivered another gold medal in the team time trial event at the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games in Dataran Nilai here today.

The team comprising Nik Mohd Azwan Zulkiflie, twins Muhammad Ameer Ahmad Kamal and Muhammad Ameen as well as Muhammad Fauzan Ahmad Lutfi as team leader clocked 1 hour 1 minute and 37 seconds to clinch the 51 kilometre race gold medal.

The Thai team came in second in 1 hour 1 minute 56 seconds to take the silver while the bronze medal went to Vietnam who recorded a time of 1 hour 2 minutes.

The Team Time Trial event was last held in the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar in which Malaysia won the silver medal.

It was not offered in the 2015 edition in Singapore.

Nine countries including hosts, Malaysia participated in today’s team time trial event. – Bernama
