KUALA LUMPUR: Former tenants of Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) Public Housing (PA) and People’s Housing Project (PPR) who still owed arrears in rental payment to the City Hall have been given a month to settle the debt or risk legal action or being blacklisted.
DBKL socio-economic development executive director Datuk Ibrahim Yusoff said according to the latest record, DBKL had identified 16,634 former tenants who failed to settle their rental arrears amounting to millions of reaching millions.
“The rent for each PPR or PA unit is only RM124 a month. However, if we were to go according to the actual value, including the maintenance cost, the rent would go up to more than RM400 a month, but we still provide subsidy to tenants.
“The rent that we ask from them is not for DBKL but for the maintenance of more than 74,000 PPR units,” he told reporters here yesterday. – Bernama
