GEORGE TOWN: A state executive councillor (exco) has been remanded along with two others for five days, reported The Star Online.

The remand was over investigations into an illegal factory in Bukit Mertajam.

Assistant registrar Ameera Mastura Khamis granted a remand of five days on Saturday although the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had applied for a seven-day remand order.

The two other people remanded were the factory’s 70-year-old manager and his 37-year-old son, who is the director.

The three were arrested on Friday afternoon after they went to the state MACC headquarters.

Raids had been conducted at the exco’s office and the factory in Kampung Sungai Lembu, where documents were seized.
