Quran Hour calls Muslims to read, understand, practice teachings of the holy book

The World Quran Hour and Malaysia Quran Hour programme, which is held every year, aims to call and encourage Muslims to read, understand and practice the teachings in the holy book.

A member of the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUI) board of trustees, Ahmad Yani Abdul Manaf said through the programme, Muslims have the opportunity to allocate an hour every day to read and understand the Quran.

He said the programme also teaches Muslims to always read the Quran continuously everyday and not only at certain times.

“It is a large scale programme because we want to impact on Muslims for them to return to the teachings of the Quran,” he said in an interview with Bernama Radio at Wisma Bernama.

The Malaysia Quran Hour, with the theme “Bangsa Berbudi & Penyayang” (Courteous and  Caring Nation), would take place at noon on June 19 at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya, while World Quran Hour, now in its second year running, will be on Aug 31.

Ahmad Yani said the programme also facilitates Muslims to better understand Quran, as well as make reading the holy book a habit.

For those who could not read the Quran well, he said, through could read the translation of the holy book.

He said since the Malaysia Quran Hour campaign was held, the response from the Muslim community, including students, had been encouraging.

The Malaysia Quran Hour programme is organised with the cooperation of , among others,  RTM, Bernama, Media Prima Group, Utusan Group, NSTP Group and Kumpulan Media Karangkraf, he added. – Bernama
