R. Sivarasa has denied that he delivered a political talk at the An-Nur Mosque in Kampung Melayu Subang last week.

Responding on the matter to Berita Harian, the Subang Member of Parliament said he only gave a short speech of a Ramadhan wish and stressed his commitment to and confidence in the Selangor government to continue guiding the surau and mosque institutions in the state.

“I also shared a little bit of my experience of being Subang parliamentarian since 2008 with regards to visiting the surau and mosques in my constituency,” he told Berita Harian.

Sivarasa, of PKR, said his presence at the mosque last Wednesday had been misinterpreted by certain quarters.

He explained that he was there to handover a contribution of RM71,000 to be distributed to the surau and mosques in his parliamentary constituency.

Yesterday, Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) director Haris Kasim said the Sultan of Selangor was disappointed and angry with Sivarasa who was alleged to have smeared the sanctity of the An-Nur Mosque when he delivered a political talk inside the mosque.

Haris said he was personally informed about the matter by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, as reported by Bernama.
