Prime Minister Najib Razak together with United States President Donald Trump and more than 50 Muslim leaders attended the inauguration of the Global Centre for Combating Extremist Ideology in Riyadh.
Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Trump inaugurated the centre at Mu’tamarat Nasiriyah, aimed at addressing extremist ideology in cyberspace.
The centre also aims to counter and prevent the spread of extremist ideology through promoting moderation, compassion and supporting the dissemination of positive agenda.
Earlier, the leaders attended the Arab-Islamic-US Summit at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Centre.
On the sidelines of the summit, Najib also had a meeting with his counterpart from Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina at the convention centre.
The two leaders discussed bilateral, regional and international issues.
Also present were Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein who is also Minister with Special Functions and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom.
Najib concluded the second of his three-day working visit to the country by attending the TWEEPS 2017 Forum at a hotel in Riyadh.
The event focuses on how people could utilise social media networks for social good and to counter extremism and terrorism. – Bernama
