Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has announced the establishment of a 2017 KL SEA Games Anti-Terrorism Task Force to improve cooperation and coordination to ensure security control is at the highest level during the games.
Ahmad Zahid, who is Home Minister, in a statement, said the task force would be headed by Internal Security and Public Order Department director with the Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters chief of staff as the deputy.
“The government is always giving serious attention to security and taking additional measures to ensure security control is at its highest level,” he said.
Ahmad Zahid said the role of the task force was to streamline cooperation and coordination involving the various ministries, departments and agencies to ensure the 2017 SEA Games proceeded smoothly.
“The team will focus on three main components namely pre (prevention or intensified security control) , current (crisis management) and post (restoration),” he said.

Security High Level Committee (HLC) with its secretariat at National Security Council (NSC) in the Prime Minister’s Department located at the National Operations Management Centre, in Putrajaya.
“The government hopes the task force will raise the confidence of the people and SEA Games participants on the level of security to ensure the championships proceeded smoothly,” he said.
Ahmad Zahid said the creation of HLC was in line with the decision of the National Security Council conference on April 11 and the Cabinet meeting on April 12 to ensure so that the preparedness and security control measures were in place for the people and participants.
