PAS Syura Council’s decision to uphold the outcome of the party’s recent muktamar to end their political cooperation with PKR will not effect the Selangor government.
PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in a statement today said this was because the Selangor government had received full mandate from the people in the state.
“The Selangor government under the leadership of (Menteri Besar) Mohamed Azmin Ali will continue to function as usual, focused on developing the state and bring prosperity to the people,” she said.
Meanwhile, Wan Azizah reiterated that PKR had never betrayed the political ties formed.
Speaking on PAS’ efforts to empower the Syariah Courts, she said the party had supported the effort, in principle, as stressed by former Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in a statement on April 8 this year.
Wan Azizah confirmed that the stand taken by Anwar on the matter is also PKR’s official stand.
