Set to appear before the special task force investigating the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) forex losses of the 90s, Lim Kit Siang today called for the resignation of Nor Mohamed Yakcop as Khazanah Nasional Bhd Deputy Chairman.
“If the Najib (Prime Minister Najib Razak) administration is sincere about accountability and good governance principles and not set on a vendetta froNor Mohamed Yakcop should resign or be sacked or suspended as Khazanah Nasional Bhd Deputy Chairman,” the DAP adviser said.
“This is because Nor Mohamed Yakcop was the chief operator of Bank Negara’s forex speculation which resulted in colossal losses which could total some RM30 billion,” he added.
The task force set up in mid-February is headed by former chief secretary to the government Mohd Sidek Hassan.
Lim noted in his statement that he is prepared to assist the special task force set up to probe the foreign exchange losses incurred by BNM more than two decades ago.
