A senior director of the Malaysian Islamic Economic Foundation (Yapeim) was remanded for five days by the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court.
Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman granted the application made by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for the 47-year-old director to be remanded for investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 409 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust.
According to The Star Online, the senior director was brought to the magistrate’s court here at 9.30am by MACC officials.
The portal also reported that MACC sources said the senior director was arrested at 5pm on Tuesday after he was brought to the commission’s headquarters in Putrajaya for questioning.
The government-linked foundation was first investigated by the MACC in 2015 over alleged misappropriation of funds, abuse of power and criminal breach of trust.
