Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi who was allegedly abused at a religious school in Kota Tinggi has passed away.

The Star Online reported that the 11-year-old boy passed away at around 2.05pm at Hospital Sultan Ismail.

The online portal said the boy’s father Mohd Gaddafi Mat Karim confirmed his son’s passing.

Previously, both his legs were amputated due to an infection.

It was reported earlier that Mohamad Thaqif was scheduled to undergo a surgery to amputate his right arm today, however it was postponed because his heart rate and condition were not stable.

He was suspected to have become ill after allegedly been beaten with a water hose by an assistant warden of the school hostel on March 24.

Mohamad Thaqif’s legs were badly damaged by bacterial infection.

The suspect has since been remanded.

The tragic plight of Mohamad Thaqif had even caught the royal attention of Sultanah of Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah.

The sultanah had issued the directive to all mosques and suraus in Johor to conduct special prayers this Friday for Mohamad Thaqif’s speedy recovery.

She has also directed Johor Health Department to check conditions of other students at the private religious school.
