In a bid to increase awareness and understanding on the Permata Seni programme, a concert tour will be held to showcase the myriad of talents it has unearthed.
The 2017 Permata Seni concert series will give parents and their children from all over the country a chance to get a better feel of what the programme is all about.
It is also aimed at making the society more aware on the importance of nurturing talent in children from a young age.
The Malacca chapter of the concert tour will kick start tomorrow at the JKKN Malacca Complex Auditorium in Lebuh Ayer Keroh at 3pm.
The concert will see the involvement of 143 Permata Seni kids from three categories; choir, dance and music.
Meanwhile tonight, the children will perform for a special event which will be attended by Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron, Permata patron and Prime Minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor, and Malacca Yang DiPertua Negeri Mohd Khalil Yaakob.
Themed ‘Seni Merentas Zaman’, the concert will be divided into four segments.
The first segment will focus on Malacca as an international trading hub with performances made up of various influences, namely China, India and Europe.
The children will be performing a medley of songs; Dondang Sayang, Chetti, Portuguese and Joget.
The concert will then move into the second segment titled ‘Harmony in Diversity’. To reflect Malaya’s progress into Malaysia from the British administration, the performances will be showcased via several classical songs including Vivaldi’s Concerto for strings in G Major.
Moving forward, the third segment will feature the growth of the Malaysian arts scene, particularly with regards to the late P. Ramlee.
The children will then move to the fourth segment in which they will display their artistic talent to encourage the younger generation to appreciate the local arts scene as a national treasure.
