‘Superman’ Hew Kuan Yau has been admitted at Kulai Hospital today, a day after he was remanded for four days to assist police investigation into his derogatory posting on Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.
It was believed that Hew went on a hunger strike after his arrest in George Town on Monday.
Hew’s lawyer Chan Kheng Fai confirmed that his client was hospitalised but was not sure of the medical reason.
According to portal Malaysiakini, Kulai police chief Superintendent Razak Md Said declined to comment on this matter.
Hew was arrested at the Penang Asia Comic Cultural Museum in Komtar at 1.17pm on Monday over a Facebook post.
In his Facebook posting, Hew uploaded the movie poster of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ with an attachment of a photograph of Najib and Rosmah captioned with a derogatory remark.
Back in May 2016, Hew created headlines over his “screw the Malays” remark during the Sarawak election.
A video footage of his racial remark went viral, causing an uproar among the Malay community.
He subsequently announced that he had resigned from DAP.
