Transport minister Liow Tiong Lai wishes a joyous and peaceful Deepavali to all Malaysians.
He said that as we come together with family and friends to celebrate this special occasion, it is my hope that Malaysians will take this time to reaffirm and strengthen the bonds of unity that form the very fabric of our nation’s identity.
“Indeed, we are truly fortunate to have such rich and diverse traditions to be shared amongst all Malaysians.
“Our multiculturalism has long been our greatest asset. Let us strive to nurture and protect these harmonious ties that make us one Rakyat.
“Together, we can ensure that future generations will continue to enjoy these shared traditions and festivals with their loved ones.
“The festival of lights is a time that reminds us that there will always be victory of light over darkness,” he said via a press statement yesterday.
In this vein, I urge everyone to be steadfast in our resolve to reject extremism and intolerance. Regardless of whatever challenges lie ahead, I am confident that where there is unity and acceptance, there is much we can accomplish and achieve, he pointed out.
Once again, may your Deepavali celebrations be bright. To those who may be travelling for the festivities, be sure to drive safe and stay alert while on the road. I wish all of you a safe and pleasant journey, he added.
