The Sultun of Johor had commanded Sultanah Aminah Hospital to use the royal ward for patients after a part of the hospital was badly damaged by a fire early Tuesday.
Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar said this when he visited the hospital following the incident which claimed six lives after the intensive care unit (ICU) caught fire.
Sultan Ibrahim arrived at the hospital from Mersing at 1.50pm and was briefed by hospital staff on the tragic incident.
Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah also visited the hospital at 12.30pm.
Meanwhile Johor Mentri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin announced an allocation of RM100,000 from the Johor Islamic Religious Council to aid all those affected by the incident.
When questioned by reporters on whether the fire would lead authorities to inspect other hospitals in the state, Khaled said the main focus was first to handle the matter in hand.
“Other buildings within the HSA grounds are safe but we will let the Fire and Rescue Department investigate the cause of fire,” he said.
On another note, Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club in a post on their Facebook page expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the fire.
“May peace and strength be with the family members of the victims during this difficult time,” it said.
