The sister of Pahang Sultan Tengku Faridah, aged 70 passed away yesterday morning at the Gleneagles Hospital in Jalan Ampang due to cervical cancer.
Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein expressed his condolence via twitter message “My wife’s aunt passed away peacefully – Al Fatihah. She will be missed,”
Earlier, several other leaders posted messages of condolences on social media following the news.
“Condolences to Tengku’s family and to the Royal Family of Pahang. May her soul be blessed and placed among the pious. Al-Fatihah,” said Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
“Condolences to the Sultan of Pahang and to the Royal Family on the passing of His Excellency’s sister, YAM Tengku Faridah,” tweeted Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai on Wednesday.
Liow was joined by other leaders such as Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The remains of Tengku Faridah were laid to rest at the Jalan Ampang cemetery here after the Zohor (midday) prayers on Wednesday.
