Penang Umno chief Zainal Abidin Osman slams DAP-led state government for its ineptness in handling the low medium cost (LMC) housing issue.
Zainal in a press statement said that the revelation by observers that LMCs were rented out by rich people which were against the state housing policy.
Penang Umno is pushing the state housing executive councilor to conduct a thorough probe into the allegations and re-examine the procedures which are in place.
On another matter, Zainal has instructed Barisan Nasional assembly persons to highlight the pending Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on the underground tunnel project and three main roads plus the transportation blue-print in the next month state assembly sitting.
Zainal pointed out that the PAC had failed twice in its bid to produce the required report in last year November and May this year assembly sittings.
“The PAC report was not tabled as the DEIA findings were inadequate.
“The preliminary report tabled was rejected by the PAC members and the assembly speaker as well.
“Penangites have all the rights to get the relevant information on the report.” said Zainal.
On the LMC project in Jalan S.P. Chelliah, George Town, Penang Umno wants to obtain full details on whether the state government would compensate the land cost to the city council for the 450 houses, which were allocated for Bumiputera.
Around RM 30.375 million was allocated for the 450 units. Each unit is priced at RM 67,500.
“If the state government compensates the council, where they obtained the fund?
“Penang Umno would like to know the overall value the payment made for the compensation to the city council for the 11-acre land,” stressed Zainal.
